Delivered in various locations across the UK, the HandyVan service aims to improve the quality of life and provide peace of mind to people in later life by making their homes more safe and secure.
Our main aim is to help people maintain their independence and continue living safely in their own home.
Our fleet of 30 HandyVans are spread across the UK and deliver a free service to those who meet the following criteria:
* Applicants are 60 or over;
* Your savings or assets (excluding your home) do not exceed £20,000; and
* The HandyVan service operates in your local area
Key services
The HandyVan service provides four key elements:
Security
We fit door and window locks, door chains and mirrors, spy holes and door bars. We can also provide bogus caller advice.
Safety
As well as fitting smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and new light bulbs, our teams also provide fall prevention evaluations.
In addition, they can give advice and do essential repairs, such as tacking down loose carpets and re-routing trailing electricity cables, to improve safety within your home.
Small repairs
We are also able to assist with a range of smaller tasks which include securing loose cupboard doors, repairing internal doors, installing shelves, hanging pictures and curtain rails.
Please be advised that some of the small repairs are subject to assessment and materials are chargeable for the small repairs service.
Aids and adaptations
Subject to assessment, our team may also be able to fit hand/grab rails and stair banisters.
