Ubuntu and it's many clones usually fail to impress me, but Mint has always stood out as one of the better versions of Ubuntu. Now there's a new contender though 'SuperOS' it's called and I was waiting to be underwhelmed by it, having tried previous versions of it. It's still not perfect, but it's much improved and I only had to do a few minor tweaks to get it looking really nice. Cosmetics aside, it's the content that matters the most and it's nice to see it come with a good range of software, even if they have gone a bit over the top with three browsers - Firefox, Opera and Chrome are all included. More importantly it comes with Sun Java, Flash, Real Player, Skype and a host of other things not normally in straight Ubuntu. The real star is 'Ubuntu Tweak' which does away with a host of minor irritations and lets you tweak lots of things. Here's how I've tweaked mine

I think it would look better with a couple of coats of boiled linseed Mikk and it would stop it from getting cracked.

Looks like mint now Mikkh, so you think it's worth me downloading it? has it got a Live CD/DVD?

Yes, it's a live DVD - just over a GB in size, and it comes in 32 and 64 bit flavours It also has the 'wubi' installer, so you can install it in a Windows folder
It comes with the ridiculous top and bottom taskbar, but it's fairly painless to delete the bottom one, tell the top one to move down and add 'window selector' to make it complete.
Is it worth it? Well I've just spent all day in it and can't fault it so far
I did install it 'wubi' style because I didn't want to get rid of PClinuxOS, Mepis or OpenSuse It also resurrected the Sabayon installation I'd almost given up on, so that was a nice bonus - PClinuxOS had failed to add it to the boot loader properly

I might have 5 computers running Windows Elvis, but I have also got 2 servers and 2 smart phones running Linux. I have got 3 Tb of hard drives being managed by Linux, I just don't get excited about it and there is a router keeping it well away from my Windows. Just to be fair I tried to use a Linux backup system and what a disaster that turned out to be. It took me several hours to get my network back on track again and Super Beast had to be reinstalled. That's only a 15 minute job, but it wouldn't have happened if I had left Linux the other side of the router.
I don't know why you keep sending Lynnrose flowers, you might do better sending her a sprig of Mint.

I'm not lost Elvis and if I was I'm sure Mikk could put me on the right track. My Linux systems do what they are supposed to do without much input from me and they do it very well. They are only a couple of little servers, if I wanted a status symbol I would buy a Lamborgini.
1 + 1 + 1 = flowers. (plural) I know political correctness has gone ape, but last I heard roses were still flowers.
