H! Mikkh, I have been trying out Firestarter 1.0.3 this week it seems to work OK but it dose not seem to start up when Linux starts up. What do you think about Firestarter.

I tend not to use a software firewall and let my router protect me I got a warning in PClinuxOS when I installed firestarter to make sure 'iptables' wasn't set to run at startup because the two would conflict. Iptables is pre-installed on a lot of Linux distros and without sifting through yards of configuration files, it would be easier to just remove iptables either via synaptic (right click, pick remove) or with the following command apt-get remove iptables That's assuming you want to keep firestarter? I'd be tempted to ditch it myself and read this forum.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=54219&p=312444uncomplicated firewall sounds good to me

H! Mikkh,
I took the fire-starter off and left the old one on.
In your post you say "I tend not to use a software firewall and let my router protect me" so has your router got a firewall and a AV ?
