I bought my youngest grandson a new PC with Windows 7 for his birthday after his laptop went belly up.
I tried to install Comodo firewall from Major Geeks making sure I had selected the W7 version but despite this it didn't work? Any idea's please.

Windows 7 has its own Firewall, so I dont think that you should need another one.

I would only use Comodo on a laptop that does the rounds, or a PC that is connected to the internet via a modem, with no router.
It's a cheap and simple thing to install a router on your home network, and 99% of the time, the router has a hardware firewall. Couple that up with the Windows firewall, and you have totally adequate protection.
