Just bought a new printer. My old Epson R300 was becoming a bit of a pain, ink cartridges continually need replacing, slow and it just printed.
Looked around and found this HP model.
It has printer and scanner. A tricolour and a black cartridge.
It's quite small and light.
The drivers need to be loaded from the CD. They bloat out to almost 250K.
The printing is really quite quick. My old Epson could take longer to initialise than to print!
The result is not bad at all. Crisp and clear.
The scanner works well. I scanned in a photo that was quite old and faded. It was saved as BMP so I can work on it quite easily.
Turning it on to print a doc. is a breeze. Ready to print in a few secs.
My second day with this and I'm not displeased at all.
Best bit, it only cost £35!
If I get any problems I'll screem about them here first.

OK, so I've had this printer a while now. I should have got back to say something about it. Really sorry.
The software is a bit of a pain, mainly because there is so much of it. But it doesn't seem to be intrusive at all. It works fine and hasn't crashed my computer. So, I suppose that's all you can really ask for.
It comes on and is ready for use in less than a minute. That's a considerable imporvment on my old epson which seemed to rattle and bang for ages.
The scanning is quick and the results as good as any other scanner I've used.
The printing is quick, The detail excellent. The colours good, from a 3 colour cartridge.
I haven't needed to change the cartridge yet. But I don't do a lot of printing.
Few gripes.
1. When it switches on, the computer quickly recognises it. But as I'm on XP, to switch it off, I need to click safely remove hardware. Unfortunately, this can't be done without a restart. It just says the computer is accessing the program.
Not a big deal in itself though.
2. This is a really annoying one. The page sizes are all in American. I can manually set it for A4, but it returns to default each time.
I really don't mind Americans driving on the wrong side of the road. After all, they only do it over there. I can even put up with then saying things like cre-sant and 'erb, as if it's clever to be illiterate.
But I don't understand why they can't use normal paper like everyone else.

We used to store our ships in the States, the paper used to hang on the rollers and was just as soft as ours over here. In fact we got soft paper when most of the British stored ships were still using Izal that felt like sandpaper.

I am a bit baffled at how your printer works. Can't you go to 'printers' via Control Panel, right-click your printer icon, choose 'Printing Preferences' and change paper size to A4, then Apply/OK?
Ref. switching off, can't you just switch the button off on the printer itself. It probablt returtns to default because you use the 'Safely remove hardware' option. Sounds a bit complicated to me.

Oops. Looks like there is an apply button which for some reason, whoch Freud could probably figure out, I didn't notice. Or, perhaps it wasn't there!!!! The switch off thing is just a habit I got into when I had XP on my old laptop. Presumably, like most of my habits it's a waste of time. OK, I' reprint the review. Ken, Izal??? Only for special occassions. The rest of the time we use nettles wraped around brambles. We're a tough lot ovr here you know.

I don't have any. These have been sorted out by our ever lovely Lynnrose who's also smart.
Thank you Lynrose.
A very decent printer for less than £40. I'd recommend it to anyone frankly.
