About the best format converter I have ever used for it's broad coverage of formats it will convert from and to (that's video, music, stills etc)
Format Factory
it's free, it's small, it's fast, it's easy to use, I love it.
I convert full DVD's to mpeg4 that my phone takes. There is even a selection of mobile phone presets for different handsets, and you can define your own presets and save them...
Every one should have this program on their PC.
Trust me, I'm a video maker......(sounds better than doctor).

When converting for your phone the things that have to be right for it to display and play well are, Frame size, Video file format and bit rate, Audio file type and bit rate, you should have that information in the hand book (but not necessarily).

It has to be something to do with the file format or settings within the format (.mpeg4)?

What is the specification quoted for your phone to be able to play video? ie, frame size, file size, file type, both video and audio and the max bit rates required / allowed?

Elvis. I am really sorry for taking so long to get back. I also apologise for failing to notice that you gave the make of the phone in your opening post. I have discovered that, while this phone claimes to have 64mb memory, only about 0.5mb seems to be usable. You can get a micro SD card, up to 4GB. www.knowyourmobile.com/otherbrands/Orange/255615/orange_vegas_review.htmlI have found that some of these phones are picky over large file sizes as well. But limitations of memory are the first point to consider, I suggest. This site emphasises this: www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/orange-vegas-606531/review?artc_pg=5If you already have an SD card, you could remove it and reinsert. If that doesn't work, it may be the card of a fault with the interface in the phone.

That worked a treat movieman36, I downloaded Madonna Video (4.3gb - VIDEO_TS) Format Factory converted the files into AVI in a hour and now I can watch it with Real Player or Windows Media Player - Cheers
