Abiword is a nice little neat word processor with spell checking etc
It's usually in most Linux repositories
sudo apt-get install abiword
should cover it for Debian distros like Mint and Ubuntu
www.abisource.com/download/
for the Windows version

Yes it's a great little WP and supports M$word documents too. It has advanced features like tables and mail merge too, so it's not just a glorified text editor
