if you boot from the vector CD, you'll see a command line option to boot other systems
it goes something like..... (it's shown on the screen)
linux root=/dev/hda? ro
(where ? is the number of the partition that Mint is installed on
Start typing straight away to stop the automatic boot process
hda is mostly replaced by sda if it's a SATA drive
so you'll need to type
linux root=/dev/sda9 ro
(assuming partition 9 is where Mint lives)

That should have been fine yes, but you MUST use lower case
linux root=/dev/sda4 ro
(for SATA)
linux root=/dev/hda4 ro
(for IDE (PATA))
If it's a second hard drive, that would be sdb4
The last character is lowercase O, not a 0 (zero) - ro meaning read only

H! Mikkh, I put "linux root=/dev/sda4 ro (for SATA)" all i get is (see piccy) I also put the linux live Mint CD in and got most of my stuff off Linux Mint 8 64 bit but i could not find my Bookmarks anywher is their a way to copy them with out going in to FireFox and exporting them. It looks like i will have to reinstall Linux Mint 8 64 bit which will not be a problem and i will then get my Mint bootloader back i am not botherd about Vector Linux i will just put that down as a bit of an experiance I will not do anything till i hear from you. Thanks
