I have only bothered using Ashampoo for years and I am using Ashampoo 8, as I dont need Blu-ray at the moment. You can get a download of Ashampoo 9.10 for 7 quid at the moment and that has Blu-ray as well as everything else. As for Fireman and Honetech, they cant be that popular as I have never heard of them.
The dont come any easier to use than Ashampoo and it doesn't bog the system down like some of the better known big ones. Its the only one I recommend, for general use.

I have been using Nero since I started, but thought I might give the Serif one a try. I take your point, but I'd not heard of Ashampoo for burning.

The Ashampoo Burning Studio is the only decent piece of kit that Cleaverbridge make. All their other stuff is garbage, except perhaps the photographic programs. I haven't tried them.

While stocks last !
They must have a BIG pile because all the reviews I found were dated summer 2007
Not that old software is immediately bad, but it smacks of dishonesty to me
Nero 6 is still usable, Nero 7 was the start of bloatware and 8 onwards is a joke how much crud it puts on your hard drive
if you don't mind all the guff later versions of Nero puts on your hard drive, stick to that - otherwise use one of the many freeware ones like CDburnerXP .
I prefer the simplicity of Linux burning apps like K3B myself which doesn't try to make itself the default picture viewer, media player and tea maker like Nero does - it just burns things!
