I wouldn't want to thanks, but as I'm slightly biased, here's what four major players in the antivirus market think... arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2009/09/antivirus-makers-applaud-mock-microsoft-security-essentials.ars(love the sarcasm in that link too, even if it should be antivirus-makers-mock-applaud-microsoft) So Microsoft want us (I mean you, that is) to trust our safety to them? Or judging from the reviews I've read elsewhere, is it just another thinly disguised attempt to reduce piracy? Most pirates won't be put off because they might not be able to run a free (but poor by all accounts) security suite made by Microsoft. The only plusses I can see are 1) It should at least behave itself with the rest of Windows (and make the 'security center' more complete - more completely Micro$oft flavoured that is) and 2) It's very light on resources apparently, which is great if it gives adequate protection. Somehow I don't think it will though, but time will tell. I've downloaded it anyway, because no doubt some of my customers will actually want it

I wish that Windows would concentrate on writing an operating system that works properly right out of the box and leave the security to people who know what they are doing.
