Thanks Lynnrose, I have gone for that. My Christmas pressie to myself. I have dozens of old photos to repair and print and I'm still using Paintshop Pro 7. This looks like it will make my job a lot easier and probably do a better job. I will need to watch the videos a few more times, but I think I will be able to master it in the next decade or two. It looks like they have simplified some of the features and you can get more accuracy without straining your eyeballs. I use M$ Office Picture Manager for quick fixes, but it not a lot of good if you have serious work to do. Some of the pictures I'm repairing are well over 60 years old and in not very good condition.

Is it worth it for me to upgrade from 9?

I think it depends on what you use it for Angel. This is a special for Photo editing, which is what I do. Anyone who is into tubes and things, stick with whatever your used to. They all do photo editing. Even version 7.0, is a big program if your not using 95% of it like me. I was teaching photo repairs with v. 7.0 and the centre changed over to Elements, as it was lighter. Both myself and my students who had learned with Paintshop, couldn't get on with Photoshop. I have even got a copy of Elements, which I have hardly used. This works in the Paintshop style and I think I can do a better job of repairing old photos with it than I can with v. 7.0 I should think you can still use tubes with it, but I think its a waste for anyone who only make tubes and dont mess with photos much. I think v.7.0 was the best all rounder they made, as Animation Shop 3.0 was part of it.

I do use mine a lot for photographs, in addition to the other stuff. Doesn't this one come with animation shop then?

It edits video as well as photos, but it doesn't have Animation Shop. This isn't PSP as most people think of it, it's purely a professional photographic program. You can add tubes to photos, but Coral dont say anything about being able to make tubes. You can probably get addons to do a lot of extra things, but I wouldn't bank on getting them for free. This box set also includes Corel Painter Photo Essentials 4 to turn photos into paintings. Media recovery software to retrieve images, movies and sound files, even from reformatted memory cards. 2 GB USB flash drive . Sounds more like an addon than a replacement for me then.

Its not an addon; its a complete program, but not one of the Jasc PSP range. Its put out under the Coral name the original makers of PSP.
Although Jasc and Coral are the same company now, they make products under their own names and the products are different types of applications. That X makes it a bit confusing, people think of PSP X (10), but its PS Photo X2 and that dont add up to 12.
If your happy with the Jasc product, its not worth buying. I have bought it because it suits me for what I do. Movie Man might show an interest in it, but he's snowed under with software already. Most of the PSP users that I know, it wouldn't be any good to whatsoever.

I am pretty well set up myself with a couple of Serif programmes as well and I'm quite happy with most of my Jasc stuff, so it would only be an addition to me even thought it's a stand alone.

Well I got it yesterday afternoon and installed it last night. I used it briefly, just to clone out a piece of information that I didn't want to show in a screenshot I made. In the few minutes I used it, it gave me an insight into what I had got hold of. I love it already. It is purely a photographers workshop and bears no resemblance to the normal PSP range. It is much easier to use for one thing and doesn't have millions of icons that even the makers have forgotten what they do. It has got menus and sub menus until you are ready to go to work and then you have got icons for the tools you need to do the job. No matter which way you decide to repair or alter a photo, you have only got the tools you need on the workbench for each stage of the repair. Being uncluttered, the tabs to change and resize the tools are clear and self explanitory. Then you have tool tips to give advice as well, so even I can understand it. The 3 main programs, 2 small programs and the movie clip tutorials, could have gone in a bubble wrap envelope with the 2 gig flash drive. Everything was on one DVD. It came in a box with a big thick manual, in several different languages. At least the manual is a proper paper back book that is readable without the aid of an electron microscope. There are 127 pages in clear plain English. I'm very pleased with what I got for the money.

It looks like I'm going to be forced into an upgrade. My PSP 9 crashed yesterday and refuses to open properly. If I go for the new one, do I get Animation shop?

Why dont you uninstall it and reinstall it again. If you upgrade you need Jasc PSP 10, but I'm not sure if you get Animation Shop with that. You certainly dont need Coral PSP Photo X2 Ultimate. Its purely a photographic program, its not for tubes and animation. You can make slide shows and things thats all. You can introduce tubes into it, but Its not for making them. It suits me and MM might even like it, but I dont think Jasc users will find it much good.

I will try uninstall and reinstall when I find my disk. Meantime I have PSP 7 for Ani shop and Corel PSP10 for the other stuff, plus some serif programs.

I still think that PSP 7 was the best one they ever made. I like this new one, as it doesn't have all the stuff I don't use and new and improved stuff that I do. I must confess I have a lot to learn about the new techniques that they have introduced.

Although its not using it for what its actually made for, all my last attempts at altering pictures have been done using PSP Photo x 2. I dont think they have been too bad, anything thats not been right is down to me and not the program. I really like it and it was the best Chrissy Pressie I bought myself.
