Does anyone here use Photo Shop?
I want to create a Map from an arial photo and wondered if Photo Shop would be suitable.

Thanks for that.
Yes. That it to answer a lot of questions. I need to read it more fully.

I took a look at those Apps and they all have one thing in common. They are actually an aid to help you identify points on on-line maps. Very useful for mapping routes but what I am trying to do is recreate the area in the style of a hand drawn map.
I have a 100 year old map of the area where I was raised (the Cotswolds in Gloucestershire in the UK) but it has now changed so drastically that what I want to do is to produce a present day representation to show what it has become after the developers have had a go.

I think most painting type programs will do it Rog. I have Photoshop but it's a massive program to learn or even to get comfortable with at first. It's also very expensive. Have you thought of trying out Gimp? I haven't tried it myself but it's supposed to be pretty good, and it's free. So even if you don't like it you've lost nothing

Thanks Roz
I seem to remember LR talking about GIMP somewhere. Perhaps she'll offer something.

I don't use Gimp, but I think it has been mentioned over at the Graphic Board, maybe by Nocky
