Clement Lefebvre has announced the availability of the first release candidate for Linux Mint 8, code name "Helena":

Yes I saw it myself and having being stung several times in the past by the final release arriving within a week or so, I 'm just going to wait for that instead.

*first* release candidate seems to indicate a second one is in the pipeline too, so it may be several weeks before the finished article is here.

There used to be a time when I tried every beta and release candidate, but I'm more patient nowadays
