Just upgraded my broadband because I feel a bit cheated that new customers are getting 10 Mb when I paid extra to get that. I was told I'm getting extras including PC Guard that new customers don't get. Obviously that cuts no ice with me because I use Linux most of the time - and I doubt if new customers are excluded from it anyway. Plus I wouldn't use it in Windows anyway because it's a massive resource hog Anyway for an extra £3, I've now got 20 Mb and having done a speed test before turning my modem off to activate the new speed - I have indeed got 20 Mb 2 minutes after phoning them I'm a bit disappointed my upload speed has only increased by 50 % but you can't have everything. I really phoned them to sort out my spiralling phone calls cost, which has seen two £50+ bills arrive recently. My old base package was £27 (broadband, phone and basic TV) so it nearly doubled because I have several friends on mobile only. I've now got a 'talk anywhere' package which should mean my total bill never exceeds £40 as long as I stay in the 200 free minutes boundary - happy days

My VM bills regularly go over the £100 per month mark now. I have the the XL TV package, 20 Meg broadband and the talk anytime phone package. I moved to this new line up about 18 months ago when they first offered the VIP package. That gave me the + box, I kept my original box which was fitted into a bedroom, the services as mention above plus I have caller ID on, paper billing etc...all for £70 a month. Eighteen months later it's crept to over £90....add in the 0845 numbers I have to phone a lot because of my business and the little add ons that have appeared like talk mobile and talk international (both of which I don't want and never asked for) and hey presto..super bills. I enquired about dropping down a package but surprise surprise, by the time it was all worked out and I had lost my VIP package discounts I was looking at saving about £25 a month but loosing the extra box and a raft of channels we like...

I'd phone them up again, it does seem to depend who you talk to - whether you get a seasoned pro who knows all the ins and outs, or a relative rookie who sticks rigidly to the company script is in the lap of the gods though.
You certainly shouldn't be paying for services you don't need/want

If you get any bother with your mobile, dont go to that shop in Clumber Sreet Mikk. They pull the shutters down if they see me coming. Bunch of pacifists and the manager is a complete wimp. They think everyone is as stupid as they are; if they had a brain cell between them, they would be pushing a broom not working there.
