Quite cold and very, very windy today, but my target is to NOT put the heating on until the 1st November. This date may change if my house is still warm enough, so I will set a new target lol (and I may buy a Slanket to keep me warm, perhaps in pink to go with my pink high heels ) Whos has given in and switched it on already?

If my CPUs get above 40º C, I have to open my window wide to cool my water tower. I dont have to heat my flat, keeping it cool is my trouble. I think ATI put after burners on the graphic card turbines, you can roast a dinner with those.

Off. And likely to stay so for the foreseeable future. I actually don't think it is that cold even now, yes the wind has picked up but cold, no. Having said that my daughter is walking around in the evenings wrapped in her duvet complaining that it is bitterly cold and I am a miser. I have to keep reminding her what it was like in my day, that always gets a good response.

It was hard in them days MM, sitting on the dirt huddled around the hearth. The worst bit was choking; because the snow was coming down so hard, the smoke couldn't get out the hole in the thatch. How would kids today get on if they had to sleep on a bare board, with nothing but a patchwork of rags to keep them warm. It wasn't so bad if the sow had a litter and you had a couple of piglets to help keep you warm. I always wondered why the cow got a better bed than us kids.

I am resisting putting the heating on for as long as possible. I doubled up the loft insulation a few weeks ago and I can definitely tell the difference.

I thought it was time that the members here got to see what you look like. Don't forget MM, when I get cold I expect you to drop everything and pop round to heat up my house!

Popped it on a few nights ago..........not because I was cold, just a test to make sure it's there when I need it of course.

I have still got a windows open, The Beast is still trying to cook me. The processors are running at a steady 37° C and the big Zalman radiator doesn't even feel warm. Put your hand behind the 2 graphics cards and it feels like a space heater. It costs me more to cool my place in summer, than it would to heat it in winter. I dont think MainMet are going to get very rich out of me this winter. I've got my ex coming to stay for a while though and if its not warm enough for her, she can go back to Liverpool.
