H! Mikkh,
I was thinking about getting a Lightscribe 22x DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Black SATA and was wondering if it would work with Linux Mint, could i do CDs/DVDs with it in Mint and is their any soft wear for it in mint?
Thanks

Basic hardware like hard drives, DVD's, floppies, motherboards etc should work with no problems.
There is lots of 'burning' software available - I think 'brasero' is the default in most Gnome based distros like Mint, but I usually prefer 'K3B' which should be available through Synaptic.
Not sure if lightscribe is supported in either though, because I've never used it. Lightscribe is supported as a separate program though - use Synaptic again to point you in the right direction

There is one in PClinuxOS repositories, so I assume it's in Mint/Ubuntu/Debian repositories too (via synaptic)

Yes, good thinking batman
You were trying to open it via Firefox - which won't work as you've just found out.
You'll probably need root access too

i386, i486 etc refers to the minimum (32 bit) CPU it supports. 64 bit is usually notated as x86_64 The fact that you don't have lightscribe yet doesn't matter - see my screenshot <no lightscribe drives found> Just looked on their forum and it seems you're not alone www.lightscribe.com/discussionBoards/index.aspx?g=posts&t=2724.... it's probably best just to revert to the 32 bit version though
