I never trained as a typist, but with all the time I spend on the PC, I thought I would be alot quicker than this. Mind you, this is for touch typing, so you need to keep looking up to see the words, then looking down again to type. For those that have been trained and can just look at the screen and type without looking at the keyboard, your speeds will be amazing!
My speed is:
34wpm
I am much faster whilst typing this message of course, as I don't have to look up lol!

27 WPM, no mistakes
Which is reasonable considering I was trying (and failing) to ignore my mobile phone ringing at the same time

Hi LR By the time I had thought of something to say, and then typed it out, at the same time as trying to keep up with reading the posts,I was half a dozen topics behind, with my head spinning, and too embarassedto post. ;D This is more my speed, taking as long as I like, sort of matching typing speed to brain activity I think I'll leave the Chat Room to you young speed merchants. ;D

A lot of job adverts I've seen for touch typists usually put 35 WPM as a minimum requirement, so I guess that is average or just about acceptable anyway.
Experienced typists will be doing 50 WPM + though, I'd have thought

My problem with texting is that I don't understand all the abbreviations, why can't people do proper spelling, it only takes a few extra seconds'.

I just hate abbreviations, and can only just about spell it. Do agree though it is just as quick to put in the full word, but I cannot use text very quick on a mobile phone.

I would love to text all the time, if they made a phone with a 21 inch screen and a full querty keyboard. Anything smaller and my glasses are not thick enough and my fingers are too thick.

Should be easier when they give us the use of dictation, to write our messages, like the google search does.
