Is anyone having this frustrating problem of one's connection frequently dropping out mid chat?
I am of course getting constant reminders to download the latest version, has anyone done this satisfactorily yet?

I have been using Messenger 2009 build 14 since it came out with no problems at all. All my contacts are using same version without problems. Maybe you have problems because you are in contact with other people using various versions.

Graham, thanks for your comments. I have downloaded the version you mention and it seems to work well. However it has made a couple of changes to Windows Live Mail which bothers me.
1. To active mail downloads one has to press F5 which previously was not necessary. (automatic)
2. Also in the previous WLM version there was a tab at the top "send/receive" which was useful, this no longer appears to be available since F5 has basically replaced it (I think)
