Can one of you help me please? After 5 hours of attempting something I am going to give up and I wondered if one of you nice people could do something for me?
I am trying to put a friends face (she is a dentist) on a background scene over a dentists face who is wearing a mask, and put another friend in the dentists chair.
So far, I managed to drag one face onto another one and tilt the face a bit BUT my friend either has no neck, only a part of a neck and definately a bandage on her face (the residue of the original dentists mask) I am yet to replace the patient with another friends head. This is when I ask for help as I think it would not take one of you experts long to do.
Meanwhile, I'll have to go back to the classroom in a book and give myself some lessons. But I wanted to print the final result and put it in a card as it is my dentists friends Birthday in a week's time so I can't afford to fiddle right now.....HELP!

I'm not an expert Musky, but I'm willing to give it a go if you post the photos. Without seeing them, it's impossible to really know how challenging it is. It's possible that your "no neck" problem isn't your fault. Sometimes there's just no way even with lots of manipulation that one head can go on another taken at different angles, without making the subject look profoundly and almost impossibly disabled lol.

Just a thought, but have you ever thought that the problem could be Photoshop.
It seems to be one of those programs that is over large, over hyped and not really all that good.
But some might lynch me for saying it.

I did wonder if a change of program might do the trick.

I use Photo Impact.
I have two versions, both free, XL and 3.02. Both were free on magazine cover discs. I prefer 3.02. XL seems to be trying too hard.
You should find them on the web in one of the archive sites. I do get the feeling that software producers try to put as many gadgets as possible into their programs thinking this will make them more attractive. I'm pretty certain this is the explainion for the popularity of Photoshop. Can't think of any other really!!!
Bit of practice is essential. Open a new folder and copy a few photos into it. Practice of these.
I never use Auto functions whichever program I use. I find, by expanding the detail, even to the point where I can view individual pixels, is often better. Takes ages, but if your results are important, and I presume they are, then it shouldn't really matter. It's actually a lot of fun.
Also, concentrate on the focus of the image. That is, if you have someone in the frame and other things in the background, most people don't really look much at the background.
Most colour problems can be sorted out with a global adjustment. PhotoImpact allows a real time preview which is really handy.

Photoshop is a professional workshop that people literally serve an apprenticeship learning to use. The average amateur doesn't have the time to make full use of it. Definitions is a cut down version, that still has more than most people need. PSP is much smaller than Photoshop, I took courses in PSP7 and still cant get my head round most of it. I think Jojo's idea of Photo Impact, is more the way to go.

If it is just a one off photo you want to do this to, then try face on body a real simple program and the trial version will give you a few free tries before it wants you to buy it, It is not as good as photoshop etc but for a quick one of change the face on a photograph its quite good and very simple. www.faceonbody.com/?CID=FB137

I've put your head back Ken, using Photoshop by the way. But I must admit it's a very complicated, and expensive program for a novice like me. And I wont say how I came by it, although I'm glad I did because I love learning about it. If I didn't have it, I would probably try Gimp, or use my very old version of Photshop Elements which is also an excellent program.

Roz, I'm going to have to forget the whole idea as I know there won't be time between posting the photos, you tweaking them and me printing the result to send them for the day I need them. Thank you so much for offering to help and I did appreciate it.
Interesting to see some of the pics on this thread - does not help me knowing what can be done and not knowing how to do it! I really will have to learn photoshop seeing I have the program.
