Which antivirus and registry cleaning programs do you use and why?

Avast seems to be about the best antivirus at the moment, the fact that its free makes it even more attractive.
Registry cleaners ~ I use CCleaner. Other members may chip in with other suggestions, its the only one I've used, it seems to work OK.

For an A/V program, Avast for me. It does the job beautifully.
For a registry cleaner for XP, you can't go past RegScrubXP. For Vista or W7, CCleaner seems to be it, although I havn't tried it yet myself.

Avast for A/V and RegSeeker for the registry only when I uninstall.
Edit: Ccleaner for removing temp files etc. I use Dr. Web Curit a/v when I want to double check.

I use C Cleaner on Win 7 x 64 Kev, it does the job good enough. I use RegscrubXP on XP x 64 and C Cleaner to get rid of tha garbage. Sometimes the uninstaller in C Cleaner will work when Windows wont.
Avast for both systems.

Avast - CCleaner both work well for me.
I also use Webroot Window Washer and "Your Uninstaller" both of which are paid for programs, the latter being far superior to Control Panel Add/Remove, cleans all the dross from the registry.

Avast here too. I've used pretty much all the alternatives over the years but recently I ran Avast and AVG on two separate, but near identical systems. Avast was (ahem) a vastly superior program. Faster, used less system resources, friendlier interface, etc...
I clean the registry manually, with a pressure washer!

I use Vipre AV/Anti spyware, sorry its not free but was built from the ground up to be light on resources and up to now has given me a very good detection rate with no false positives, so for me its worth the cost.
As for cleaning the reg i use regseeker in XP and 7 being a stand alone app its good for any PC ;D

Thanks John, I will give Regseeker a try. I need a replacement for RegscrubXP for Win7. RegscrubXP has worked perfectly for me for many years. The guy that wrote it retired years ago, so it will never be updated.
