I've downloaded IE 8 to give it a try. On 7 I had an information bar telling me that I had disabled my add-ons. (I haven't touched them) IE8 is telling me the same thing. I can't seem to get rid of that bar. I have looked at the Java add-ons etc, but they are all enabled. I have disabled them and then enabled them again, but I still have the irritating bar. Shall I just forget about it and go back to Firefox?

Funnily enough, I was getting the information bar up yesterday when on my laptop IE7 and it drove me mad, so I tried changing the Active X controls via Tools, Internet Options, Security tab, Custom Level button, Internet Zone and Trusted sites. It was on the Trivia games, The Last One Standing......I have just checked it out again and the info bar still appears. I have added the site to my trusted sites and that doesn't work either. Everytime I change the security to Medium it changes itself back to Medium-High I have looked at the Help page and nothing seems to get rid of it, but I won't be beat!
My info bar tells me about Active X Yours is about Add-ons Fozz. Have you looked at Add-ons via Tools, Manage Add-ons?

Yep! Been there, done that. Got the flipping tee shirt, Lynnrose! I cancel it but it just comes straight back again. If this is an upgrade, I am the King of Spain!

Thanks Lynnrose. Neither of those solve the problem. It's started freezing each tiime I open it now. It also opens 3 tabs and won't let me change or close them... IE is going mental! I'll stick with Firefox.

IE8 works fine with W7, but I haven't tried it with XP. You dont get a choice with W7, as its part of the OS. Thats probably why it works, its all preset.
