hi there folks,
after yesterday diffs and lynnrose putting me right with the link to " fix IE7 " and it helped, tonight having set my home page to Internet explorer 8, I have spent a little time exploring the various parts of it............it shows a link to " upgrade now " but would that over ride my present IE7, or would i have to un install it first, then re install ?? i am not a great computer saffy chap......maybe I will leave well enough alone. thinking at the moment of the old addage ( if it aint broke dont fix it )

It will be interesting to hear how you get on Harry, most of the reports on IE8 have not been favourable.

I am interested as well I haven't been brave enough to try it yet but in saying that I had no problems with IE7 when it first came out. let us know how you get on and if you think it is worth downloading. I mostly use firefox now but I like to have IE installed as well.

Hi there again folks,
Well i have been using IE8 for a few months now, and feel it slows things down on my computer, not greatly slowing things down, but today or this week i feel i want to have a go at using firefox, so hence my questions a. do i have to uninstall IE8 first and if so how ? b. If i download firefox 3.5 i think it is without un installing IE8, will I be creating myself trouble.
i have never ever messed around with browsers but now there seems an option to use something different
a straight forward download of firefox would be brill. this may well have been discussed elsewhere, so a link would be brill
thank you................from a teckie numb skull

No, you don't have to uninstall IE8. Here is the link to Firefox
There are various threads on this board talking about Firefox, including the one called 'What Browser'
Just set Firefox as default and I think you will be very happy using it x

Firefox's greatest strength lies in it's 'add-ons' IMO
There are far too many really, and it's wise not to get too carried away and install more than a handful
Adblockplus is a must have though

thank you Mikkh,
i have noted your post, and look it up, at the moment I am getting used to the new commands needed, for example IE8 was right click and N for open new window, now with firefox its right click and W. I will be browsing these boards along with the offical site for beginners help stuff. I enjoy the msn game site which isnt available with firefox, so this morning I used IE8 to play my games, but keeping firefox as my default. The switching between browsers dodnt seem to be a problem..........all new stuff from yesterday, but will get there ;D
thank you

Time to forget about MSN games then I reckon I've just been to have a look and obviously I can't play anything in Linux/Firefox either, but I did get the gist of the site and saw what games are available. More importantly it seems to be laid out to entice people into buying the games, which is fair enough if you really get addicted to one I suppose. Everybody wants something for free though, if possible, and a better alternative is the site I spend far too much time on. It's called WWD-Games www.wwd-games.comYou can play some as a guest, but you need to register to take advantage of all of them - it's fairly painless and free I saw something about 700+ games on the MSN game site - WWD games has 10,000+ !!
