I installed the software at the beginning of the week and ever since then I have had to reset my Home page at least once a day, sometimes more. Why does it keep changing it without me being able to stop it? Yours confusedly (again!) Aidan

What does it reset to though? It's a classic sign of some malware infections It could be just a bug in IE8, is it in final release format yet (i.e not a beta) ?
I don't tend to take much notice being a Firefox user

I have a very new top spec computer running XP Pro x64, but when I installed IE8 Beta, it c o cked up my internet settings also. That was enough for me to leave it alone until the final release is out. Only then will I try it again.

And with x64 bit software, I dunno if it's going to be any good there either KC.

If it was any good, I would have thought they would have shoved it onto us W7 testers Kev. I suspect the finished product will have it, if they can make it work in time for the final release. They have aready palmed us off with all the Live crap, not that I've installed much of it. I did install Silverlight, not that I know what its for. I seem to remember Larry saying something or other uses it. If I ever find out, I've got it.

The only thing I've found that definitely requires 'silverlight' is ITV's answer to the BBC's iPlayer It's Microsoft's (way too late) attempt to rival Flash and Java for playing web content

Thanks Mikk, you might have answered a question for me. A friend of mine mentioned a while back, that she could no longer watch something on ITV as something had changed. She was using 2K and I dont even know if Silverlight would install on that. She's got XP now, so I expect she can watch Emmerdale or whatever. I will have to ask her if she's figured it out yet.

I think the itv catch up player is carp. Everytime I watch or try to watch a program it is fine til the adverts, then it either doesn't start up again, or it just stays on the adverts. I don't bother watching on it now I get the programs I want to watch from mininova isntead, as at least they go uninterupted til the end John

The ITV Player either does not work for some people or works really well. It won't work in Firefox for my daughter, but it does work in Internet Explorer. For me, it works in both. We have got Silverlight and seem to have the same settings.
