I have the firewall installed and am very happy with it and I have now installed the antivirus. I am very used to sending attachments etc to the desktop and right clicking my mouse to choose "scan with....." before I open attachments.
I notice that I don't have the facility "scan with comodo" which I miss as I was used to seeing 'scan with AVG'. Can I presume that comodo scans automatically and if there was a suspicious attachment it would simply quarantine it and advise me?
Possibly I need to run firewall/antivirus tests to ensure I have everything working correctly so if anyone knows something that would do this I'd be grateful.

Personally, I would have just installed the Comodo firewall, and nothing else. The rest really hasn't been tested by any of us for reliability.
I'd uninstall it all again, download just the firewall, and install Avast A/V, and SAS, plus MBAM, and if you want a browser anti-hijack program and a passive anti-malware program, download and install SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard from javacool software too. All of them are free, and have been thoroughly tried and tested by many of us.

I have just installed the complete Comodo suite on a computer. It was in such a mess after having the N thing on, it took me forever to sort it out. To save a bit of time I installed Comodo complete. Not having tested the full suite, I thought I might as well test it on someone else's computer. I will be monitoring it and if anything looks dodgy, I will replace the AV with Avast. The firewall works brilliant and I haven't heard anything bad about the AV. I will let everyone know if there is anything untoward happens. It looks like you will have to be another Guinea-pig Von.

I used a previous version of the virus checker, and wasn't too thrilled with the speed of it. They may have improved it since then, but it was disappointing compared to the firewall, which is probably the fastest of the free firewalls (and does a good job)
With wireless routers being about £20 nowadays, there's no real need for a software firewall though - a hardware one is always better IMO and uses no resources. And if you have several PC's/laptops it's a doddle to share the internet connection wired or wirelessly

Thank you for the advice. I do have spywareblaster and I'll have a look at the other suggestions and probably opt to a different antivirus.

Not sure if I have a wireless network card in this pc, I had it built about a year ago.

If you have a router of any kind, it 'should' have a hardware firewall feature. Log into your router at (whatever your router addy is) and make sure it's turned on though, before dumping that resource hog, "Zone Alarm".
I use a Netgear wireless modem/router and all I use is the Windows XP Pro firewall and the hardware firewall in the router. As Mikkh says, there is no need to run anything else, unless you are using a laptop. Only then would you need to have a good software firewall installed.

I only use Windows firewall on my main computer and I wouldn't install ZA on anything. I do have Comodo on my laptop, as I'm not always behind a hardware firewall with that.

Unfortunately its asks me for a login and password, its been so long since i set this up i havent got a clue, and searching the net didnt help, maybe one day ill get a wireless card and router and redo it all.

If you havn't added a username and password yourself, the default should be "admin" to both. Give that a try.

You can always push the reset thingy and set it up again. Its only a few minutes work and well worth the effort. Your going to have a much smoother running computer, without something like ZA hogging all the poke.

I must thank you all for your advice concerning my question. The problem is that when another member joins in it is difficult for me to follow whether the advice to me or if its advice to the other member. However, I did follow answers that I know were for me and its rude to not thank you peeps for your help and advice.
I am still running the antivirus (guess I am testing it) and I have used 3rd party downloads aimed at checking firewalls and antivirus' and Comodo is picking either up and warning me on a screen pop up. It is quarantining these types of events and I am happy running both of them.
The only fault that I can find is reviewing previously allowed programs - with ZA you could open a page to see 4 columns and what you have ticked (allowed) and I am yet to find that on Comodo. It seems easier to not check the box advising it to remember your answer and leave it to always needing to ask permission to connect to whatever.
I wonder if when anyone else joins in with a question that is on a tangent to mine (but can easily all be answered under my question) whether those members who are kind enough to be helping would address their answer to the named poster? I don't mind anyone else joining a thread at all if their question concerns mine but it is very difficult at times following answers and wondering whether they were meant for me or not.

All I can say is that if you have a router or Zone Alarm, then what was posted would pertain to both members, but if you don't, then it won't.
