It's cheap(er) for other reasons too, it's only a 8.9 inch screen, it comes with a hideous cut down version of Linux, but it does have 1 GB of RAM, so you could easily install XP on it.
It goes against the grain to say that, and I'd rather see a full featured desktop Linux on it, but that's how badly I rate the one supplied.
Do yourself a favour and get the 10 inch screen version (with XP) for only a few quid more

I thought about getting a pink notebook. Around here if you get mugged, they will take your credit cards and Mickey Mouse watch. They wouldn't be seen dead, with a pink notebook.

I had the pink LG netbook for a month but I had to take it back as the touchpad stopped working. I nearly got the acer aspire to replace it but instead opted for the eeepc which I didn't really like the look of before but after using the LG which had a 3cell battery which only lasted about 90 minutes if you had a few things running, I decided just to get the Eee PC as it has a seven hour battery life and even if your running a few things at once it does last around 5 and a half hours which is a big bonus if your on the move and as that is why most people buy notebooks it made sense, but alas it is not pink just plain black ;D I got the one with XP installed on it but Ive added mint which runs just great. Just thought I'd post incase your getting one Lynnrose as they say 3 cell batteries last approximately 3 hours it may if you do nothing but read your mail.
LOL KC ;D

Thanks Lazy for info. I'm not planning on getting one though, happy with the laptop that I have got. Yours sounds great with that battery life x

I bought an Acer Aspire One about six months ago from Tesco, priced £179.00 (it was the 512mb version with 8gb SSD mind).
On the plus side, the 8.9" display was surprisingly good and crystal clear. The keyboard not bad either.
The O/S was appalling though. You really have to jump through hoops to customize it or even install anything it wasn't supplied with.
Sold it on eBay for £120. Best £59 I ever lost.
