When Microsoft is opened it says Microsoft Word Non-Commercial Use ( Trial)
Does any one understand this ?
Friends PC is about 5 months old

It means that Word is a trial for home use only. I expect it's for a 3 month or maybe a 6 month period and then you have to buy a licence to keep it. Your not allowed to use it for your business, as that is naughty and you will get your wrist slapped.

She is very new to all this, and my knowledge is not very good either.... sob sob.
I've suggested she goes back to the shop and gets them to explain to her, she thinks they might have before but found it all to much to take in at one time.

May I suggest you, she and the entire world dump Microsoft office with immediate effect and download Open Office?
It's free!!
It's smaller!!!
It's much better!!
It opens microsoft office files.
It also saves .doc files

It will stop working at the end of the trial anyway, so she will either have to buy a licence, install Open Office, or throw herself and PC onto the fast lane of the M4.
