When I click on a link to download some information I get the response that the download was completed, yet nothing is shown when I look at the download file. Can anyone suggest what the problem is and how I can resolve it ? I am using VISTA.
Regards

I presume you're also using IE7 then ?
Do you know the name of the file you've downloaded?
Check the options in IE to see where the default download location is, and try using the search option (from the start menu) to look for it - if you know what it's called that is. Vista has a download folder, which should be the default location, and you should get a choice of where to put it anyway

Thanks for that. No I don't know the name of the files being downloaded. In the past (last month) any files I downloaded appeared in the downloaded file for me to open, now although the downloadfile itself appears there is nothing shown in it. As far as I'm aware I have changed nothing on my pc to cause this problem. The download file itself does appear when I do a search but it is empty.

What exactly are you trying to download, and with what program?
Post a link here so we can check it's not your PC or it's settings

If your downloading from a safe site, try opening the file on site. Then it will tell you if the installer has gone up the chute or not. It might be telling you the files are empty, coz the installers not reading them.

For example I downloaded 'SpywareBlastersetup.exe' The download file came up as if it had received the prog but was showing empty, so I downloaded the prog again only to be told that I already have the programme and do I want to replace it . I have search my PC for the prog but it wasn't found. Could it be that the installer is reading the download but deleting it on completion ?
