Is this "PC" gone mad - what do you think? In recent days the European Parliament has again caused "outrage" in the British press after publishing a pamphlet asking staff to refrain from using the titles Miss or Mrs. Details - Here

Its politically incorrect to refer to a master and slave drives now. Although if you refer to one as the primary drive, I can imagine the secondary drive getting upset and what if you have a poor tertiary drive?? I'm sure my computer parts are well and truely offended at some of the names I call them. Although I wouldn't dream of calling them anything as bad as I used to call my wives.

Lol KC
I think all this 'politically correct' and 'do-gooder' stuff is utter rubbish I am not offended at being called Mrs. Miss. or Ms (I do find Ms a bit odd though) Who cares. I feel quite strongly about things like this, but I won't go off ranting on here lol

I'm married, but because I work for myself and did do long before I married my husband, I kept my single name. So I often do use 'Ms' when filling in forms etc. However, when we do personal things as a couple, like maybe checking into an hotel or similar then we check in as "Mr and Mrs". Having said all this, I really don't care at all which way I'm addressed, and think they might even offend some people by their silly attempt at not offending.

I have just received a letter from a Company I deal with and the writer was "Mary Blogs" I replied to Ms. Bloggs - I had no choice other than saying "Hi me ole mucker how ya doin'?" (get my drift ) Maybe as Roz says it is a business thing?

Mrs is short for mistress and they say its not polite to call a married woman a mistress. Yet posh women like to be called a Madam. Personally I would rather have a mistress than a wife. Wives are like one armed bandits. It don't matter how much money you put in, you always finish up broke and they always shine.

I think the world has gone a bit nuts with the politically correct rules.

Its the opposite ends of the spectrum Buz. A mistresses job is to keep you happy and a wifes is to keep you miserable.

the Mistress/Mrs dominates the house.
I use my married surname for family stuff and the American style hyphenated version of my maiden name and married for public stuff and writing, but not for the political work as I need to be apolitical in some jobs and it separates the two worlds.
I do not answer to Ms.
