I have just had an idea, would it be possible to set up a Link to the Login Tab to automatically open the Forum utilising one's own user name and password rather than having to enter it manually?

Sorry Buz, have had to read that a few times to get what you mean...not sure I do get it, lol, but do you mean being able to log-in automatically like MSN Groups? What I mean is, if I clicked on New Thread or Reply or the Sign-in button, MSN automatically logged me in, so no typing needed.
I don't think that can be done here. You could stay logged in 'Forever' which would save you having the hassle of signing in again ~ not a good idea if you share your PC, especially as Admin.
PS...I have a code to put the log-in box at the top of your homepage, if that's any good?

LR - What I meant was, instead of entering one's user name followed by one's password, would it be possible to have that done simply by clicking on Login having previously set up some sort of link to it containing both those elements. I had an idea that it may be possible by adapting the "click here" code perhaps? It's not crucial, just an idea that flashed across my mind.

Sorry Buzzy, I have no idea if that could be done. If I ever find out, you will be the first to know:)

I understand what you're getting at.
We had this facility on MSN. But that seemed to be part of the MSN Passport which gave us access to a lot of MSN facilities, few of which most of us ever used.

Buzzy / LR
Don't understand what the problem is. When I login I then select the Forever option below it. Providing I visit the Group on a daily basis I don't have to login at all unless that is I've a maintenace clearout of Cookies, History and Passwords on my puter.
Try it you'll be surprised.

That could be just what Buzzy is looking for. I have never stayed logged in. I always leave it on the 'Forever' choice as that is first option, but I log out when I have finished on here (sometimes I forget) To be honest, I didn't realize that if you log in 'forever'....but then leave the web page, you would show as offline (bottom of page) when in reality you were online if you get me, but NOT showing as online on this site. I shall stay logged in tonight and see what happens tomorrow.

Hmm - Hardly rocket science. Surely if one stays logged in forever this is leaving one wide open to hackers/spammers etc: which rather defeats the exercise. What I was getting at was the notion of somehow having the option to 'store' one's details (hidden of course) and have this accessed by the program simply by clicking on "Login" and obviously negate the details upon 'Logout' It is not crucial, I was just curious to know if it was possible.

I don't think it woulkd effect it ref. hackers and spammers. It is just unadvisable for people who share a computer to stay logged in to sites, messenger etc

If you log in forever Buzz, the cookies are on your computer and your not leaving the door unlocked. If you run C Cleaner and its set to clean out all your cookies and history, you have to log in again. Only the management can leave the door unlocked. If any hacker worth his salt wanted to get in, I suspect it would take him all of 30 seconds.

Ken - As always many thanks for your sensible advice, I do use CCleaner and like the option to clear out cookies. I will just log in here as and when I visit.
