I have been running a new installation of Win7 on SSD for a few days and have failed to find sound driver, so I have no sound. I also have Win7-32bit on another HD and there SoundMax_ADI_v610026600 is the sound driver, but the same driver does not work in 64bit OS. I'd be grateful to hear your recommendations. Many thanks, Alex

The fact you have installed on a SSD and not a HDD, wont make a blind bit of difference Alex. The sound card will use exactly the same driver. Right click on the card in Device Manager and click on Search for Updated Driver Online. If that doesn't fix it, you can try uninstalling the driver in Device Manager and rebooting the computer. That often works with Sound Drivers. If that fails, you will have to go to the Website of the Motherboard makers and install the driver manually. The 32 bit driver wont work, so make sure you download the 64 bit. If there isnt a driver for 64 bit, you are right out of luck and the motherboard is too old to bother making special drivers for.

I use driverpack solution a lot for missing drivers drp.su/I tend to use the full version (extracted to a USB stick) because invariably the missing driver is one needed to get online, thus making the smaller online version useless in those scenarios In your case it will be fine though It has it's good and bad points - Good: 99.99% of the time, it will find the required driver. I've only known it fail once Works for all versions of Windows from XP through to 10 in both 32 and 64 bit No hidden extras on the install - there isn't strictly an install for the larger one anyway, either burn to (dual layer) DVD or extract it Bad: No hidden extras on the install, but a lot of 'suggested' programs are ticked by default (simply untick them) Most of these are Russian too, so even if you want Firefox, Skype etc - DONT install their version unless you are Russian of course

Thank you very much guys for your help, but despite persistent efforts, I could not install the sound driver. I got tired of trying and I formatted the drive and unplugged it from the computer. There is no point in running two identical copies of Win7, especially 64bit version, because I have only 3GB of RAM.. Thanks again,
Alex
