I have Epson Stylus Office BX535WD and I have been using compatible cartridges from 7dayshop.com from the start. Cartridges are made by "INK". The black cartridge just run out and the first replacement was not recognized despite several attempts. It was old, 2008, but the secont replacement was relatively recent and it was not recognized either. Finally a large capacity black was recognized, but the Magenta was not recognized, even though I have not touched it. I don't have a replacement Magenta, so I will be without the printer for a day or two.
I have a gut feeling that this is to do with contacts, but gut feeling are not science, so if anyone can help, I would be most grateful.
And another question, if I may. The printer has a setting for colour or black and white. As the black ink cartridge is OK, I set it to black only, but it still woould not work. Any suggestions?
Many thanks,
Alex

Thank you jojo. That was very useful and I am keeping it in case I get into similar difficulty again. I am pleased to report that I ordered a replacement cartridge from 7dayshop.com and when it came I installed it and the printer recognized it immediately. Interestingly, the outer wrapper of the replacement contained instructions as to what to do if the printer does not recognize the cartridge, which suggests that this is quite a common phenomenon.
