Probably old news to most, but having only recently entered the trendy end of the smartphone market thanks to my nephews cast offs, I was appalled by the battery life on the latest one he gave me. The first one a vanilla 3G is fine, it lasts best part of 2 days used as a phone (I've got no interest in mobile music or internet on the go) The latest one he donated (a 3GS at the upper end of the old iPhone 3 range) literally eats the battery on default settings and it struggles to last a day It's noticeably faster though, so I went looking for a cure Battery Doctor was the highest rated freebie on the app store, so I thought I'd try that first Long story cut short, it works. It works that well I was wondering what kind of voodoo magic it was using to keep the battery on 100% for a whole day! It's now 2 days later and it's still on 90% This is just on standby though, I'm still using the older one as an actual phone - but what a difference Obviously if you do use the smartphone features, your savings won't be as spectacular as mine, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't give you some battery savings It's available for Android phones too

Coming towards the end of day 3 in the big brother battery doctor house, it's still on 61% and showing the following message:
When charging, open battery doctor to double your battery life
That's a pretty ambitious claim and would see this phone lasting a week on standby!
