Just been put onto this: xp-antispy.org/en/about/I may come up in German, in which case, select English at the right hand side of the page, (Unless you understand German of course.)

Looks good and it works - mostly!
Remove shortcut arrow doesn't work though

Strangely, that's one option I didn't select! It's in TweakUI anyway. Though I personally like the small arrow. (I don't want any shortcut icons getting uppy now!) I didn't find any improvement using the FastShutdown option, though I also selected Clear PageFile/WebsiteCashe on Shutdown. Those are probably using some time up. Kinda wish it was possible to turn off the Blue shutdown screen, so I can see what was actually happening, but that is probably the engineer in me! First ran this on my machine, at the time I posted it. No problems at all. One thing I personally did like is it doesn't install. Also the options to turn off some of the the operations which involve contacting anyone, (especially, M$), are a plus. The description for each option is handy for those of us who aren't mikkh! Anyway, nice to see another decent tool around and even better that I don't need to come back with problems.

I tried the clear pagefile option too, along with fast shutdown which was a bit counter productive as any speed gained was going to be lost in deleting the pagefile anyway It's a good idea to clear it though to make sure nothing is lurking there - it's one thing most people forget when trying to shift a stubborn infection.
My XP is a virtual machine, so it doesn't make any difference to me how fast the shutdown is really
I tried it in my real Windows 7 too and I was a bit disappointed there weren't many Windows 7 specific options. A lot apply to all Windows, but 7 is obviously bigger and has more potential annoyances to sort out.
On the whole a good find though

Not strictly relevant but on the subject of shut down, one of the things I miss with a laptop, is I can set shut down and walk away.
My desktop, I have to stand there.
My wife's machine, using W7, still gets the regular updates which can extend that time considerably.
