I had a problem replacing cartridges. I got an error message "Cyan not recognized" after I installed a new cartridge. After several unsuccessful attempts I took that cartridge our and install another from the same manufacturer and the printer recognized it immediately. I am using "Ink" Epson compatible cartridges that I buy from 7daysshop.com and I have not had that problem before.
I think that the cartridge was faulty in some way, but I have no means of confirming that.
What do you think?
Many thanks,
Alex

Have you tried cleaning the cartridges in the printer? Since another one of same supplier worked ok. It is either blocked or simply faulty. They may decide to replace it for you, I have occasionally had the same problem with my Epson printer and compatible cartridges from another supplier, which was replaced without question.

Thank you Buzzy. The cartridge is too cheap to return, but I will mention it next time I reorder. You are most probably right. The error messages appeared on yellow first after I cleaned the nozzles and I replaced it because it was very nearly empty. Then I got the same message on Cyan, but the replacement did not get recognized.

Guys,
Since writing to this forum I have had a reply from 7dayshop.com with a tip, which might be of interest. They suggested that rubbing the contacts with a rubber pencil eraser might cure the problem. As I removed this cartridge from the printer, I sealed both the jet and the vent hole with sellotape, so I can try that in a few months when the cartridge in the printer runs out.
