There is lots of good software that starts life in Linux and eventually gets ported to Windows and/or MAC The beauty of this for you Windows people, is that there are no hidden agendas in Linux software, no toolbars, no extra non related software that gets installed at the same time - it's just free One such gem is 'DVDstyler' to make DVD's with. Drag and drop video files in, customise the menu, pop in a blank DVD and off you go. www.dvdstyler.org/en/downloadsIt's Windows equivalent would be 'ConvertXtoDVD' I guess, which you can have for the bargain price of £35 and watch it fail to encode an NTSC video to PAL properly - or you could use DVDstyler for free and get the job done correctly Difficult choice!

Well this is embarrassing, after installing it for a Windows friend, it seems it may have been the trigger for 90+ threats in MBAM. I did decline one 'offer' as I was installing it, so it may have been some other software on his machine, but I did run MBAM for him the other day and he swears he hasn't installed anything else since.
I'm disgusted at DVDstyler if they have added hidden rubbish, no other Windows port from Linux I have tried before has ever had this 'problem' so maybe it didn't come from that.
The threats were all PUP's (Potentially Unwanted Programs) which are easy to remove, so if you're comfortable with removing such things, it's still a very desirable piece of software

I installed it Mikk; not because I wanted it, but wanted to see if I got a litter of PUPs. I clicked the option to download from Sourceforge, declined the toolbar and downloaded it. Updated MBAM, run it and it came up clean. I picked the Sourceforge link, as I have never had a bad download off them yet. I think he must have got his Trojans from somewhere else. There are a lot of them PUPs running loose, you can pick them up on eBay and places like that.

Good, thanks for clearing that up Ken I thought it was more than a bit odd, but I was just going on what I was told

Your welcome mate. Maybe he never unticked the additional software boxes, there is no telling what you might get if you dont.

I use Windows and have used DVD Flick which is free and have never had a problem in converting or burning problems. Having said that since using a tele with usb connection the need for dvds for me has become almost redundant.

Thanks, I'll pass that on to my movie mad friend who had the misfortune to buy probably the only TV in the shop without a USB port - serves him right though, cheap is always cheap for a reason
