I have been upgraded to a 20Mbit Cable Bandwidth service but have been experiencing problems with my BB Speeds.
Tonight I have been getting 0.4Mbit so rang Virgin. After a lot of "Faffing" around the engineer discovered that there was problem with the Server that handles my Data and gave me a £10 credit on my account.
What a load of rubbish, he just didn't know what he was doing.

I'd be thankful for the £10 rebate, I can't imagine BT being that generous - or even admitting it was their problem.
You might need to upgrade your modem if you were on significantly lower speed before. The old type NTL/Virgin modems can only handle 8/9 Mb at best

I've been with Blueyonder/Virgin for about six years and still have the same modem.
On my 10Mb deal, I regularly average 12.2Mb,and for slightly less than I paid for original 512kb kb/s deal.
I'm quite happy. ;D

Mikkh / Nocky
I don't think it can be the Modem as this afternoon I was getting 17.8Mbits. Tonight it's been down to 0.4Mbits (about 10.00pm) since then its been up and down like a "Brides Nightie" just run it now and its 1.7Mbits ten minutes ago it was 7.8 so I don't know whats happening.
I've kept the same Sites open all night and haven't loaded any Software that hasn't been on my Puter for weeks. Not that should affect it anyway.
The Engineer in India told me at one time to remove the Ethernet Cable and reconnect it the other way around as it sometimes solves the problem. Suffice to say I ignored the instruction I think I said something like was he trying to unblock it. He said something like that was the theory. TOSSPOT.

Its a good job that guy in India hadn't heard of Dynarod, or he would have told you to get them in to unblock it Rog.

Resetting the modem by taking the power out then rebooting does sometimes work when the computer is having an MSN day. Same goes for the tv box.
That guy in India is working his way through a script.

Rebooting a modem is a normal procedure Angel, but only in India do you have to unblock a cable. I think SATA cables must be made in India, put a kink in one of those and you have got a problem.
