I'm trying to upgrade windows 7 from vista, after the initial scan for compatibility I was told I needed to uninstall HP Tools Security Manager -HP Tools Security Manager Suite- Kapersky anti virus. I searched the add remove programe and none of these were listed. I then ran revo uninstaller Kapersky was not showing, but the HP files were. I ran the uninstall process and rebooted but these two files will not uninstall. I googled the problem and it seems that this is a common problem, and people have contacted HP for advice and they are directed to a USA helpline which charges megabucks by the minute. It seems the files are embedded in the registry an HP will not divulge the file name. Regarding the Kapersky anti virus I don't know where that came from I have never used it or even knew it was on my pc (I use virgins pc guard) done a search but it doe not show. Can anyone help as I prefer to upgrade rather than do a clean install .

PC guard is powered by Kaspersky, so it's that you need to remove/uninstall
The HP stuff you can probably shift with hijackthis
post a HJT log if you're not sure what to remove

You will probably find there is still a HP folder in Program Files and you will need to boot into Safe Mode to delete it. Once its gone out of the Program Files, C Cleaner will sort the rest out. Dont tell Mikk I told you to use C Cleaner, he dont approve. As you reinstalling anyway, it wouldn't matter if it did do any harm. ( Which it wont. )
