Hi everyone! I keep getting a message from the action centre recommending that I set up Windows Backup so I'd better be a good girl and get to it! Can I just check that I should be backing up to an external drive (I don't have one at the minute) and, also, what size would I need?
Thank you, Julie.

You can backup to another partition on the internal hard drive Julie. I presume your hard drive is split into 2 partitions. The only trouble with that idea is if the drive fails you lose both partitions. I would backup to that until you get an external drive. The size of the drive can be as big as you can afford. I would get something about 500 gig, but 200 gig would do the job.

Thanks Ken ... will give my local computer shop a ring this afternoon to see what they have. Would rather get an external drive. Julie.

Your welcome Julie. I would make one backup to the second partition and then set the auto- backup to backup to the external once a week. Then if the external failed, you would still have one image for a quick reinstallation. It only takes about 15 minutes to reinstall complete with all the settings and programs from an backup image.
