I have downloaded IrfanView to my Win 7 PC which apart from imaging etc: I use for playing CD music. It is fine except for the fact I get scant info: This example is a shop bought disk and the artist and track title are not displayed either in the folder list? On XP I get full details such as type of source (MP3 etc, and length of playing time together with artists details) Is it possible to revert the same on this machine?

Having just tried to replicate your problem, It may have something to do with the default player - for music. It's set to internal in the latest version, but switching to external seems to do nothing in my copy of Windows 7, it probably does in XP via CDDB in media player ?
I used to like irfanview myself, but I just used it for pictures/photos and a real media player for music

Mikkh - thanks for your reply. I was using Media Player Classic which was OK except for a slightly irritating aspect of it starting to play for about 5 seconds, a pause, and then back to normal. I'll use Real Media Player in future.

I didn't recommend Real player, I meant a dedicated media player like VLC, MPC or Winamp - although there's nothing much wrong with Real Player, I just don't like it's slightly bloated nature
I use Media Player Classic myself when in Windows and I don't get any problems with it. If you got it as part of the K-lite mega codec pack, there is a separate 64 bit add on pack you can get to complement the 32 bit codecs. It could be an update checker that's a bit late kicking in. Check the options and untick any automatic updates
Or maybe you just installed 64 bit codecs. You can (should) have both 32 bit and 64 bit codecs installed
