Anyone using Paragon or other imaging programs for system images, might find that SP1 wont install. MS have given suggestions on what you can do to correct this, but I finished up reinstalling. This is the quickest and easiest solution. I was having a few niggles with updated drivers and updated software and reinstalling seems to have ironed all them out as well. So a fresh OS was really the best thing for me to do anyway. I thought I had better warn you all that the MS suggestions are not to be relied upon.
On a similar subject, for Win7 x 64: Anyone using Radeon HD 4800, 5800 and 6800 series graphics cards, install using the supplied disk before putting in the updated Catalyst 11.2 drivers. If you do a clean install of Catalyst 11.2 on Windows 7 x 64, you wont be able to use multiple screens or get control of the cooling fans. I cant say if this applies to Win7 x 86, XP or Vista.

I only use backup programs that I have to boot from myself, I don't like the ones that insist on you having the program installed and have no need for incremental backups because I keep the data I don't want to lose on several external devices.
A clone of a fresh install is all I keep and for Windows 7 I don't even bother usually as it's such a quick install and I barely use it anyway. The same for most Linux's too. Most of my images are for my XP machines which is a long winded install and an hour or so of driver installations afterwards

I dont make incremental backups Mikk. I save what I want to other drives and never store anything on C:/ for very long. I make a clone of a fresh install, as soon as the drivers are in and my main programs are installed. If I install other programs that I like, I will make an image of that. I make an image of the bare install with just the drivers, to use on the simulator drive and then make an image of that when the simulator software is installed. It doesn't really matter whats installed, its the fact its an 3rd party image that SP1 doesn't like. It will install if you use a Windows image to reinstall. I have tried that out and it works OK, I found it takes up a lot of space, compared to Paragon. I think Windows images must be in real time and Paragon are compressed.
