I am looking for a new scanner. Currently I am using an Epson Perfection 1660 Photo scanner with Windows XP which is quite old but still produces superb results on my XP laptop. Of course it is not compatible with Windows 7. I have been looking at the new Canon LiDE 210 scanner and it would appear to be very innovative. I wonder if anyone can pass comment on this machine from a personal point of view (I have read stacks of reviews) I need a scanner for my Windows 7 machine. click - Here

I've not used that particular model, but I've used Canon scanners for years and never come across a bad one yet Buzz. We had some Cannon LiDE scanners at the WEA, but they were earlier models than that one. Its a well proven range and probably a good choice.

I have the Canon CanoScan LiDE 20 which I have had since 2004...I got it from Amazon and it cost £39.75 (just checked my Amazon order history.) Brilliant scanner. I might not use it for months on end, but I have just recently completed a photobook for my parents. I had to scan alot of very old black and white photographs plus more recent photos and the results are fantastic. So I think you will be pleased with your choice

Just as a postscript to this one, I bought an LIDE20 from Staples back in 2002,and it's been fine on XP ever since. Changing to W7 however provided a problem - the Canon site doesn't list a driver for 7, but there is a beta driver for Vista on there which does work, but you have to select Canoscan driver only from the dialogue box on the install. If you try installing any of the other apps on the download, it tells you 'this(ese) application(s) are not supported by your operating system - contact your network administrator'. Might be useful for someone?

My Canon Lide 210 is working fine and my old Epson Perfection 1660 running with Windows 7 is also running well on my laptop.
