could i recommend this tool for anyone that has been the victim of a browser hijack?....it is free, and both scans and repairs. has anybody else used it on this portal, would welcome comments:maybe i was lucky...but the tool recognised and removed "nasties" that others did not. www.malwarebytes.org/

Yes - I agree. I have been using Malwarebytes for some time now and it is a very thorough program. SUPERantispyware is good too. I think it was Old_Viking (Ken) that first recommended these two programs over on MSN/CIT

thanks for that...and by way of introduction i used to be "redmayne"....but i had issues with the "msn/passport" scenario...but selfishly used to read rather than contribute and hence was rarely"seen"..looking forward to making valid contributions to this esteemed portal:)

Super Anti-Spyware has an anti-hijack in Preferences.
You should always remember to update the definitions in MBAM before running it, the free version doesn't automatically update.
Actually it was Simon who put me onto MBAM in CIT (MSN). I used to run Malwarebytes Rogue Remover. Although I think you can still download Rogue Remover, Malwarebytes Anti Malware is the newer and better version.
