Hey Nocky, nice bright start, and did you notice the boom on the sailing boat is at the top of the sail, so there is no danger of the boom hitting your head, as is the case with the latest ones. They had some good ideas in the old days aye?

Its a lugsail Pete, thats why the boom is on the top. It was used mainly for life boats, where you could have a lot of people and a swinging boom could be dangerous. Its very easy to rig for a fast get away. The only trouble is, you cant get within about 5 points to the wind and tacking is just about impossible on a big boat. With a small light boat, you can just about get them across the wind. Having to wear a big boat round sometimes to make a course change, makes it a very impractical rig. The large size of the lug will really push you along, but only when the wind is behind you and you can square the sail right out. When changing course, you dont swing the bottom of the sail, but you change the bottom of the sail. The luff becomes the lug and the lug becomes the luff.
We should start giving sailing lessons here as well, so people can take their laptops out on the Norfolk Broads.

Hey Ken, As you can guess I have not done any sailing, so your comments are very interesting. Anyway too old for that now. Ken, liked the pics you did specially the destroyer destroying the sail boat. Great imagination you have mate. Nocky nice effects on yours, thanks for your comments.

14 months at sea non stop, Sydney to Wolverhampton. Could have done it quicker; but had to wait for them to finish the Wolverhampton Aquaduct, past them low lying houses.
I love your Gif Pete, very nice slow steady speed. I realise it makes the files a bit big, but the results make it worth it. Only too often, these Gifs work too fast

I like that one KC, clever follow-up to last week. I tried for a stained glass effect here, couldn't get too much detail though. Looks better at long range. ;D

I thought I had better put Elvis's fire out, before he burns the site down.

LOL KC, ;D, That wee boat gets around a bit. I did this one, but thought it needed something, so I added a bit of gloss.

I made a very serious mistake on the air boat Nocky, I just noticed it and fixed it. Shows how your eyes get tired and you miss things staring you right in the face.
