H! Mikkh me again
"Your disk drives are being check for errors, this may take some time. Press C to cancel all checks currently in progress."
As you can see Linux Mint 9 is trying to do scan my drives this is the 3rd time this has happen it has taken 2 hours before and still not Finnish so i press C and it boots up into Linux and alls well with life, love and the world.
What i wanted to now is, is there any way i can do the scan from within Linux instead off when i first turn Linux on?
Thanks Mikkh,
My the force be with you always.

I dont usually get involved in Linux, but it sounded like a Windows thing to me. Linux partitions on the same disk as XP was fine, but Win7 is the new boy on the block.

H! Mikkh,
Just did a scan on my C: 320GB drive and my external 1TB drive last night and the scan reported every thing is OK, i am going to have a look at the link you posted and do one in Linux mint and see how it works.

I've had this a few times as well (Ubuntu 9.10) It's always when I've switched off rather than shut down (Yes Linux does crash every now and then), so there is a marker somewhere that tells the grub that all is not as it should be on a restart. So it checks the disk. No problem, never had a fault on the drive, it's just being thorough!

Yes Fitch i have never had a fault on the drive with Linux Mint 9 it's mostly me that has coursed the problems not Linux
It's when i switch on that i get the scan not as much as before and i can just press C to stop it if i want too, i did leave it going one night form 9.00pm to 1.00am and it still had not furnished the scan

Apparently, it should happen every 25 power up's. Any more frequent then: a) something is not allowing Linux to shutdown properly, or b) there's a bug in mountall - which was fixed in version 2.15.
