Some very good and interesting contributions last week, with the usual helping of humour. Well done folks. I've chosen my view of Plymouth this week, plenty of open space to work with. After adjusting colour and brightness etc., I used the angled strokes and accented edges filters in Photoshop to get a painted effect. Now it's your turn. ;D

LOL Ken, I won't even be paddling now. ;D That thing is SCARY I'd feel a lot safer with just your penguins Angel, that's a nice graphic. ;D Now I've had another look at this one, the rocks bottom right look strangely sinister.

Thats what I saw when I first looked at it Nocky. I was trying to find a picture of a half submerged Cayman, but I couldn't find one I could make fit. The best I could do was a picture of the rare Green Plymouth Alligator.

Another rare species only found around Plymouth, the Devon Black Caiman. They live mainly in fresh and brackish water. Their diet is almost exclusively fish and Cornish-men.

The Victory doesn't often visit Plymouth these days, but it can happen.

Good to see "Victory" back KC, nice tints.
A very atmospheric pic Elvis, I like it.
Well done chaps. ;D

You could say they are natural tints Nocky, they are taken from two different processes used on the plates in the 1800s. I just changed the pic to black and white and stuck then in the time machine in PSP Photo Pro. For black and white I like the soft tones of the box camera.

That looks nice KC, very easy on the eye. On the other hand, I'm still trying to get the hang of this HDR stuff, much more garish methinks. ;D

Aah! I see, Dr. Who is really a super intellegent intergalactic penguin come here to Plymouth to save the human race from KCs giant mutant Crocodiles. It's all starting to make a strange sort of sense now. Thanks for that Elvis, nice one. ;D That's really clever KC, great overlay, you've done a smashing job on the windows. (no pun intended) I did this pencil sketch using the freebie Paint.Net.

Hey Elvis, at least you're trying mate, and it's only for fun anyway. ;D Why not do what I do and Google for video tutorials, I look for Photoshop tutorials, but there are loads for Gimp too. I had a quick look and found www.gimpusers.com/tutorials.php Have a look, might be of some use to you. Nice one KC. Here's another Paint.NET sketch.

I'm running a picture valet service Nocky, Elvis brings um in and I park them up.
I cant help you with Gimp Elvis, I've never used the program. I'm still trying to get my head round PSP Photo Pro x 2, that I bought myself for Christmas. I used to play with PSP 7 and thought I was half way to being able to use the new one. I had to be kidding myself.
All these programs are so different, I wouldn't even know where to begin with Gimp to give any advice.
