File explorer crashed in Win10 last night. Message "unresponsive" and the screen went black. Managed to reboot after several failed attempts, but I now get the message "could not log into your account" and then "you have been given Temporary Profile". My personal data is not there, but I can read saved documents, pictures etc, if I go to the User in File Explorer. I have done sfc/scannow and nothing was found. Is there a quick fix for this? Many thanks, Alex

I don't have Windows 10, but maybe try a System Restore?

Thats the only suggestion I can make, System Restore. I have installed Windows 10 on my Mini, but I haven't really used it. All the time Windows 7 works, I'm only too happy to use it. When Windows 7 runs out of steam, I might go with Linux, unless Windows comes up with something different to 10.

Thank you guys for good advice. Unfortunately, I attempted recovery from mirror image, but when it showed that that could take several hours, I stopped it to go to bed. I think cutting it before it had finished made the partition unusable, because I could not boot up even with temporary profile. So I did a fresh install from the USB where I saved the first installation from Major Geeks. Well, it is working and I am now going through the hassle of re-installing applications that were lost. Thank you Mikkh for the information. Although I could not use it, I printed it out for future reference, because this could happen again. Thanks again, Alex
