perfmon.exe W7

This is causing a number of problems.

Bleeping Computer, who I would normally trust, says its a Trojan and should be removed. www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/perfmon.exe-19668.html

It does tend to use up a lot of resources at times. I checked as suggested by M$, but I have none scheduled.

Any ideas anyone?

The bleeping computer link shows it in the wrong folder, so it *would* be an infection in that scenario unless someone has copied the file there for whatever reason.

perfmon is an on demand program to run when you want, it should not be in any startup lists unless it's been scheduled to run by the user. So if Ccleaner or msconfig is showing it as a startup item - delete it
