Try as I may, whereas I can access BBC iPlayer satisfactorily, I can log on to Demand 5 (Channel 5) but cannot open any of the programmes. I have downloaded the latest version of Flash Player but that makes no difference.
This situation is the same on both my Desktop PC and my Laptop.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Some of these catchup players used Silverlight in the past, but having just checked (in Chromium/Windows) it's definitely using Flash
Could be a number of things, but the most obvious is your browser - have you tried a different one?
The next suspect would be your security software, but iPlayer working seems to throw doubt on that, unless 'on demand' has got itself on some blacklist for some strange reason

Mikkh thanks.
I have tried both modes on Maxthon and also tried IE11. My ISP has introduced "Parent Control" recently and I switched it off momentarily and Demand 5 still loads up ok, BUT still no video is displayed (screen stays blank apart from the brief resume of what said episode is about.) BBC iPlayer is fine?

Mikkh, Lynnrose, I have got the problem solved with the help of the support team within my ISP and thought it might be interesting for you perhaps for future reference.
1, They are working on a dedicated "Parental Control" option which enables one to select which programs one wishes to view or otherwise. It is still in Beta stage.
2. After quite a lengthy "Logmein.com" session and having been told 'Flash' was in fact installed but disabled. We started to have a good look around, DNS, Proxy servers, et-al. You Tube had ceased to work also.
Finally, I am now able to use BBC iPlayer AND Demand 5.
Thank you both for trying to help solve this enigma, I am once again a very happy 'Cookie' (pardon the pun).

Good to hear buzzy.
By interest, can you say which ISP that is? It isn't BT by any chance is it?

The ISP is called "Karoo" which is part of the 'Kingston Communications' telephone system here in Hull. We are the only city in England to have our own telephonic communications system and the Folks running the technical support side of things are in the City Centre too, literally 3 miles from here. Their knowledge is par excellence and their dedication to courtesy is likewise, we are very lucky to have them behind us. support.kconline.com/about.php

An American company, that's unusual in the UK
That's a sadly out of date web page though, mentions of OS2/warp and FreeBSD in the support section and no Windows version later than XP!

This looks more like it www.kc.co.uk/tv-broadband-phone/That's a strange way of charging for access though - by a download limit and no mention of what speed to expect

Yes, I understand the protectiveness with which people in Hull have for their telephone company.
Personally, I wouldn't use anything offered by a telephone company which restricts my access in any way. There are far better tools available.
But that's just me. Pleased to hear those guys at your ISP have sorted the problem out.
