My hubby likes to play the card games that come with windows, especially spider solitaire and freecell. Just lately the cards seem to be difficult to move and sometimes seem to move themselves. Is there an update or something I should be downloading?

There might be, but you dont say what operating system. I sounds a bit like the OS has become bogged down and needs a good cleanup and defrag.

Could be I suppose. I haven't done a defrag for a while.

My wife is the same and has had this problem. While she uses the Windows games, she also likes Steam
We traced it back to some spyware or other, which presumably, couldn't contact its base and kept the computer hanging.
Did exactly what ken suggested and a through clean up, complete virus scan followed by complete MWB scan. All with System restore turned off.
Didn't do the defrag though. Mainly because I was under the impression that with W7, it wasn't necessary.

The fact is I never leave anything on auto if I can help it. If you strip out a few gig of rubbish from any OS, it doesn't suddenly become defragmented all by itself. I would go as far as to run a Scan Disk first and then defragment it. My laptops are all solid state and never defragment if you have a SSD as a C:/ drive. If you fit one to a Windows 7 machine, it will disable defrag anyway as a precaution.

Thanks for the reminder ken. Good advice. My wife doesn't have an SSD. Her laptop came with an ordinary drive and since she rarely moves it, there's little to be gained from the hassle and expense. I bought mine because my old drive bit the dust and treated myself. I didn't realise the complications until I went to buy a second. Personally, I wouldn't recommend SSD to anyone. Expensive, fiddly and pernickity to use. Appreciate the built in software in W7, but frankly, needing to turn off several items which are on by default is a bit silly for those who are not particularly computer savy. Apart from suggesting things like MWB and CCleaner, I try not to interfere with my wife's computer. Besides the inevitable problems if anything goes wrong, be it my fault or not, her computer is one of those lady things that a gentleman simply does not interfere with, unless specifically asked.
