I have had a little problem with my Livebox over the last few weeks and Orange have sent me a replacement today. I thought it would have been simple to change them over, should have know better. I have put in all details as instructed but can't get a connection with the new box, go back to the old one and all is fine. Just wanted to ask if anyone here has had a new replacement box ? recently ? what am I doing wrong? could it be something on my computer needs changing? jorg

Well I will try, come out of the wireless mode and used a wired connection to the red port on the livebox, go into IE, then enter 192.168.1.1 that takes you into Orange site, when in user name is admin and password is admin, that seemed to do it I was on line, just changed over to wireless and away I went, it seems to get up and running you need to do it via cable, don't know why. If I have missed anything out I did find a Orange help site at www.orangeproblems.co.uk/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=4 it has all this info jorg

You always have to use a cable to set up a router Jorg. This prevents anyone in the street changing your settings, if they cracked your wireless network. I'm sorry I didn't think to ask you about that on the other site, I just assumed you knew.

KC, never assume anything with me regarding computer knowledge, best to be on the save side, work on the assumption that I don't know, anyhow thanks for this, mind you with my old box I did not need the cable, but I think the old box was WEP and the new one is WAP, if that makes sense?, jorg

Not really Jorg. I suspect they set the encryption for you on the old one and gave you the key. This time they left you to set the WAP up yourself. That sorta makes sense. At least I know what to tell you now in 10 years time, when you have worn this one out.
